Huawei Delegation Visited UP FEIT – Future Technologies in Focus

 

The delegation of European and domestic leaders from Huawei Technologies was welcomed by Prof. Dr. József Betlehem, Vice Rector for General Affairs, Connections and Strategic Affairs of the University of Pécs, and Prof. Dr. Gabriella Medvegy, Dean of our Faculty.

Dr. Géza Várady, Vice-Dean for Scientific Affairs, then reviewed the past and present of the faculty's strategic partnership with Huawei, presenting major milestones for a vision of successful future cooperation to be founded on. He highlighted the Huawei Seeds Scholarship Programme, which, as one of the first initiatives of the cooperation established in 2021, immediately achieved significant success among FEIT students.

Gábor Gyurák, Head of the Department of Cybersecurity and Networks, winner of local and regional 1st prize and global 2nd prize in the Huawei ICT Teachers Competition 2024/2025, presented ongoing Huawei projects, followed by a unique interactive cybersecurity demonstration of the CyberLab team he leads.

Dr. Ádám Schiffer, Head of the Institute of Information and Electrical Technology, and Prof. Dr. Péter Iványi, Head of the Department of Systems and Software Technologies, gave an exceptionally well-received presentation on the latest innovative developments in IT, medical computing, and their latest achievements within the National Laboratory for Cooperative Technologies. Dr. Márk Balázs Zagorácz, Vice-Dean for General Affairs, demonstrated cutting-edge research in BIM (Building Information Modeling) and the Digital Twin Technology as opportunities for cooperation that represent the future of building and construction management.

Following the impressive presentations, the Huawei delegation visited the BIM Skills Lab with the leaders of UP and UP FEIT, where the members of the Chinese guests were given an interactive overview of the projects currently underway.
